If you are ready to try using your computer to operate fun, low-cost devices, this is your chance. For just $145, National Instruments sells a "student kit" (also available to teachers) which includes BOTH LabVIEW 7.1 and a USB interface. Details are available from NI at http://sine.ni.com/nips/cds/view/p/lang/en/nid/14681 Use the links at the right to download instructions and a LabVIEW program (they are called "Virtual Instruments" or "VIs") that lets you program vehicles to complete complex sequences of motion. Also note there is a new vehicle on the market (shown in the photo at right) that works well with the RC Controller. It's the "Road Champs / Fly Wheels RC Vehicle," from JAKKS Pacific, selling for about $20 in many stores. If your students want dramatic spins, flips and other moves, this will satisfy them. It also has interchangeable wheels, which opens new possibilities for experiments.
